A Brief History
There are still plenty of opportunities! See today’s challenges in a wider context, and new solutions will present themselves. It’s simple: just look farther, act smartly and make the right connections. We reinforce our customers and help them move forward – in the name of Meldon, but, to us, it feels like helping out ‘colleagues’. We share our insights, and look for opportunities, so we can achieve the very best we can. For our customers.

The best thing that the past has brought us is the enthusiasm it brings about.
At Meldon, we really love what we do. For more than 70 years, we have worked with dedication, passion, and plenty of down-to-earthness. We are proud of this family business, and of our history. As a company, we are not afraid to shoulder our responsibilities. We think about tomorrow – in everything we do. That’s why we only design products for sustainable use. That’s why we innovate materials. And that’s why we focus on long-term partnerships, both with our customers and our employees. Joseph Zeekaf CEO from 1961 – 2000
Meldon, since 1949
The history of Meldon Plastics begins in 1949, when Johannes van Melzen and Eugene Donné start setting up a business for treating copper wire. When the Municipality of Bergen signs a contract with these two gentlemen in April 1950, the company is officially up and running. The business flourishes, but very soon the founders develop conflicting views, and Donné establishes his own business, while Van Melzen formally becomes the director of Handelsonderneming Meldon in 1954. However, after engaging Joseph Zeekaf, Van Melzen introduces him as the face of the family business. Zeekaf is appointed as Technical Director in 1961, and later actually becomes the owner. Today, his son, Marco Zeekaf (62) is the CEO of Meldon Plastics.
